Ways to Use It

Soap & Candle Makers

Birch's sweet, wintergreen-like note carries through cold-process soap, birch tar bars, and woodsy candle pours, where a small amount shapes the whole scent profile.

Dilution & Safety

Store bulk birch oil in its sealed container, cool, dark, and tightly closed, and decant working amounts into smaller airtight bottles rather than leaving the large container open on a bench. Keep it away from eyes, children, and pets. For any skin-contact use, dilute birch to 0.5% to 2% in a carrier oil and patch test before wider use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does bulk birch oil come with lab documentation?
Yes. Every size on this page, from the 5 lb pail through the 400 lb drum, is covered by the site's published Certificate of Analysis. If you need anything beyond what's posted there, contact us before placing your order so we can address it directly.
How does the per-pound pricing work?
Price per pound drops as order size grows. Our smallest retail bottle, 0.5 oz, works out to about $314 per lb of oil. In bulk, 5 lbs runs $56.31 per lb, 25 lbs runs $44.48 per lb, 100 lbs runs $33.00 per lb, and 400 lbs runs $28.12 per lb.
Is the bulk oil the same as what's in the retail bottles?
Yes, there is only one standard here, not a separate bulk grade. Every bottle and every bulk size is distilled and finished the same way and covered by the same published Certificate of Analysis, so buying in volume doesn't mean buying a lesser oil.
Which bulk size should I start with?
For a first production run or a small test batch, the 5 lb pail is the easiest entry point. Steady soap or candle lines usually settle into 25 lb or 100 lb, while the 400 lb drum suits manufacturing-scale use where birch is a core ingredient.
Can I order more than 400 lbs?
Yes. Quantities above 400 lbs are available for larger operations; contact us to arrange a custom order, and we'll work out sizing, timing, and pricing directly with you.
How fast do bulk orders ship?
Orders ship within 1 to 2 business days. Bulk sizes, especially the 100 lb and 400 lb drums, sometimes need extra handling time before they leave our facility. Checkout runs through our Shopify store the same as any other order on the site.
What's the best way to store a bulk quantity?
Keep the sealed container upright in a cool, dark space away from direct sunlight and temperature swings, and reseal it tightly after each use. Pouring off small working amounts into dark glass bottles, rather than repeatedly opening the full container, keeps the bulk of your oil in better condition longer.
Does birch oil affect the color of soap or candles?
Birch oil itself is pale and doesn't tint soap or wax noticeably, but its sweet, wintergreen-like scent is strong: most makers find a very small percentage is enough for full scent throw, and going heavier can overpower a blend rather than strengthen it.
